Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film features Nagarjuna and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles, with music composed by Chaitan Bharadwaj. An official remake of the 2006 French film I Do, Manmadhudu 2 serves as a spiritual successor to Nagarjuna’s 2002 film Manmadhudu.
The story revolves around Samba Siva Rao, known as Sam, an older bachelor and a perfumer living in Portugal, who is the creator of Gucci Bloom. Due to a past breakup with Suma, caused by family traditions, Sam becomes disillusioned with marriage and prefers casual relationships. However, his family—his mother and three sisters—issues him an ultimatum to get married within three months. To handle the situation, Sam hires Avantika, a young woman, to act as his fiancée. Their plan is for her to leave him at the altar, allowing him to remain single. Avantika agrees as she needs a stable financial situation to adopt her deceased sister’s son, following Portuguese legal requirements.
As the plan unfolds, Avantika grows close to Sam’s family, and Sam begins to develop feelings for her. However, Avantika disappears as arranged, leading to Sam’s mother suffering a heart attack. To save her, Sam rehires Avantika, this time asking her to behave poorly so the family will reject her. Despite this, the two grow closer, though Sam hesitates due to their age difference. Eventually, Avantika fulfills the contract and leaves. In the end, Sam confesses his love for her and reveals his schemes to his family. Overhearing his confession, Avantika returns, and the film concludes with their marriage.
