Description: Malaysia to Amnesia 2021 Movie Review in English
Malaysia to Amnesia, the latest Tamil film released directly on the OTT platform Zee5, is a light-hearted comedy that fails to fully capitalize on its intriguing premise. Directed by Radha Mohan, the film follows the familiar style of feel-good comedies but lacks the depth and creativity in its writing to make it truly memorable.
The story revolves around Arun, a successful small-scale apparel business owner, portrayed by Vaibhav. Arun is married to Suja (played by Vani) and has a daughter. However, he is also engaged in an extramarital affair with Riya. Arun tells his family he is traveling to Malaysia for a business trip but instead goes to Bangalore to meet Riya. Things take an unexpected turn, and Arun finds himself in a complicated and uncomfortable situation.
While the premise had potential for humor and intrigue, the execution falls short. The film relies heavily on predictable clichés and fails to explore the situation’s comedic possibilities fully. Veteran actor MS Bhaskar delivers a standout performance, carrying much of the film’s humor. Vaibhav and Vani also perform well, portraying a believable couple. Riya Suman, though limited in screen time, leaves a decent impression.
The humor in Malaysia to Amnesia is subjective, with some moments relying on clever wordplay and slapstick comedy. Fans of Prakash Raj’s iconic dialogue from *Mozhi* might find certain scenes enjoyable. However, despite the film’s sincere attempts at humor, the storyline remains underwhelming and lacks depth.
Ultimately, while Malaysia to Amnesia offers a few laughs and entertaining moments, it doesn’t rise above being a light and forgettable comedy. The film’s humor may appeal to some, but its predictable plot and lack of innovation prevent it from standing out.
