Description: Malayankunju is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller film directed by Sajimon Prabhakar and written by Mahesh Narayanan. The narrative follows a survivor named Anikkuttan, an electrician who lost his father to suicide and harbors deep resentment toward life. The film explores his journey of survival and struggle.
Mahesh Narayanan, who had previously worked with Fahadh Faasil in films like *Take Off*, *C U Soon*, and *Mālik*, pitched the story to Fazil, who agreed to fund the project. Sajimon Prabhakar, known for his work as an associate director on *Ente Ummante Peru* and *Android Kunjappan Version 5.25*, was chosen to direct. Rajisha Vijayan was selected to play the female lead opposite Fahadh.
Principal photography began on January 28, 2021, in Erattupetta, adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Filming took place in various locations, including Erattupetta and Ernakulam, and the first schedule concluded after 26 days. During the second schedule, Fahadh Faasil sustained a nose injury while filming a stunt scene on March 2, 2021, and underwent surgery the following day.
Initially, Sushin Shyam was set to compose the music, but he was later replaced by A. R. Rahman. The film captures the emotional and physical challenges faced by its characters, highlighting themes of survival and resilience in the face of tragedy.
