Description: “Malang” is a 2020 Hindi film that follows the story of a young man named Advait Thakur, who is released from jail after serving a five-year sentence, marked by a brutal fight with a fellow inmate. Upon his release, he contacts Inspector Anjaney Agashe, a hardened, drug-addicted cop known for eliminating criminals under the guise of encounters. Agashe lost his daughter, Vani, during a raid in Goa, an event that drove him into addiction and transformed his personality.
Advait informs Agashe about an impending murder of a police officer, leaving the inspector unsettled. Meanwhile, Michael Rodrigues, Agashe’s colleague and a by-the-book cop, is dealing with personal turmoil as his wife, Teresa, is having an affair. When Victor, a fellow officer, is brutally killed, Michael and Agashe clash over how to handle the murderer—Agashe wants to kill him, while Michael insists on bringing him to justice.
As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Advait is connected to both Agashe and Michael. Five years earlier, Advait was a carefree, adventurous young man who fell in love with Sara Nambiar at a rave party in Goa. Their relationship took a turn when Sara discovered she was pregnant, leading to discussions about abortion. However, after witnessing Agashe’s daughter, Vani, killed during a drug raid, Sara changed her mind and decided to keep the baby. Advait, afraid of commitment, left Sara and disappeared into the mountains.
The film weaves together these events, highlighting the intertwined lives of its characters and the consequences of their actions.
