Description: Major Grom: Plague Doctor is a 2021 action film. The story follows Major Igor Grom, a police officer in St. Petersburg, who is known for his unconventional methods. While chasing three bank robbers wearing hockey masks, he manages to capture them but causes significant property damage in the process, leading to a reprimand from his superior, General Fedor Prokopenko.
The plot thickens with the trial of Kirill Grechkin, a wealthy young man accused of fatally hitting a girl with his car. Despite the evidence, Grechkin is acquitted, sparking outrage among the public. Sergei Razumovsky, an IT millionaire and founder of the social network Vmeste, and his friend Oleg Volkov, who grew up with the deceased girl, are particularly angered by the court’s decision. Around the same time, a mysterious figure known as the Plague Doctor begins appearing online, vowing to rid the city of criminals. The Doctor brutally kills Grechkin by burning him alive in his car. Oleg later confesses to Razumovsky that he is the Plague Doctor, leaving Razumovsky conflicted about whether to turn him in.
Major Grom, who witnessed the murder, takes on the task of investigating the case. However, FSB officer Evgeny Strelkov arrives from Moscow to take over the investigation, reassigning Grom and his trainee, Dima Dubin, to a minor case involving stolen refrigerators. Despite this, Grom continues to pursue the Plague Doctor. In his efforts, he saves Yulia Pchelkina, a journalist and blogger, from a staged attack. Pchelkina’s real intention was to get close to Grom and gather information for her blog.
As the story progresses, the Plague Doctor claims more victims, including a corrupt bank head and the owner of a polluting landfill, further complicating Grom’s mission to bring the vigilante to justice.
