Description: The story begins in Jaffna, where armed men stop a bus full of passengers and carry out a mass killing. The scene then shifts to Kasauli, where a bearded man, Vikram Singh, watches a news report about the assassination of the Sri Lankan President by a suicide bomber. He buys a bottle of liquor and visits a local church. The priest, who has known him for three years, questions him about a “conspiracy,” to which Vikram responds, “Our Prime Minister could have been saved from the conspiracy.” He then begins recounting his story to the priest.
The film flashes back five years when the conflict between the majority Sinhalese and minority Tamils in Sri Lanka had escalated to a critical point. Tamil youths, led by Anna Bhaskaran (based on the real-life LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran), took up arms. The Indian Prime Minister decides to sign a peace accord with the Sri Lankan government, insisting on peaceful elections before Diwali. However, Anna rejects the accord, forcing the Indian Peace Keeping Forces to withdraw from the island. In New Delhi, a heated meeting among Indian officials leads Robin Dutt, the R&AW chief, to enlist his top agent, Major Vikram Singh.
After strategizing with Robin Dutt and his deputy, Swaroop (Avijit Dutt), Vikram travels to Sri Lanka. There, he meets war correspondent Jaya Sahni and works to uncover a way to stop the rebels. Reporting to his senior, Bala, Vikram seeks information about Shri, the only person capable of opposing Anna. With the help of an informer named Narayanan, Vikram finally meets Shri and promises to support him in his fight against Anna by providing weapons.
