The story follows Surya, also known as Madhagaja, an orphan working as a real estate agent in Varanasi. He earns extra income by managing the deceased at Manikarnika Ghat. Aspiring to dominate the area, Surya’s life takes a turn when a legal dispute leads him and his friend to Shivagaada, a village in Karnataka ruled by the landlords Bhairava Dorai and Rathnamma. Upon arriving, Surya becomes a guest in their village.
Rathnamma grows suspicious of Surya and later discovers from Basavanna that he is her long-lost son. Fearing that Surya might uncover his true identity and disrupt the ongoing bloodshed, Rathnamma offers him money for land and urges him to leave. After departing, Basavanna reveals to Surya that Bhairava and Rathnamma are his real parents and that Rathnamma had abandoned him due to village conflicts, entrusting Basavanna to raise him differently. Basavanna convinces Surya to keep his identity a secret and protect Bhairava’s family from danger.
Bhairava is embroiled in a water dispute with Veerabhadra, leading to violence. During a village festival, Veerabhadra attacks Bhairava’s family, but Surya intervenes, humiliating Veerabhadra and earning Bhairava’s trust. Meanwhile, Veerabhadra’s son, Tandava, is released from jail and learns of his father’s defeat. Tandava confronts Surya and Bhairava but fails to harm them, though he discovers Surya’s true identity.
To resolve the feud, Veerabhadra and Tandava propose a marriage alliance between Tandava and Pallavi, Bhairava’s friend’s daughter. Rathnamma and Bhairava, realizing Pallavi’s affection for Surya, ask him to leave the village. Unbeknownst to them, the wedding is a ploy to prevent Bhairava from fixing a digital clock in the river. Tandava and Veerabhadra kidnap Bhairava’s family and Basavanna, revealing Surya’s origins to Bhairava. Surya arrives in time to rescue them, defeating Tandava and Veerabhadra, which brings peace to the village and restores the river’s flow. Surya ultimately reunites with his family and Pallavi.
