Description: The tradition of love stories set against factional feuds began with Venkatesh’s *Preminchukundam Raa* in 1997. Since then, numerous films, including the recent *The Warrior*, have explored similar themes with mixed results at the box office. Continuing this trend, Nithiin’s latest film, *Macherla Niyojakavargam*, also revolves around a love story intertwined with factional violence. The only fresh element here is the setting, which shifts from Rayalaseema to the Palnadu region.
However, *Macherla Niyojakavargam* proves challenging to endure due to its predictability and outdated storytelling. The primary issue lies in its weak screenplay. Like many films in this genre, it offers little in terms of plot surprises. The 1980s-style action drama features Nithiin as Siddharth Reddy, or Siddhu, a dedicated IAS officer who dispenses his own brand of justice. This includes confronting politicians, standing up to rowdies, and taking on the villain’s gang. His main adversary is Rajappa, a corrupt politician and local rowdy played by Samuthirakani, who delivers an exaggerated performance.
The film’s thin plot follows Siddhu’s relentless battle against a tyrannical political leader, leading to clashes with the system. The obligatory romantic subplots involving Siddhu with Swathi (Krithi Shetty) and Nidhi (Catherine Tresa) add little depth. The comedy provided by Gunthalakadi Gurnadham (Vennela Kishore) is one of the film’s few strengths. Interestingly, Kishore receives more screen time than the leading ladies. Despite some high-octane action sequences, including one where Siddhu confronts goons in his office and the town square, *Macherla Niyojakavargam* becomes tiresome over its 122-minute runtime, feeling overly familiar and uninspired.
