Director K.V. Anand continues his tradition of addressing social issues in his films. While *Maattrraan* doesn’t delve deeply into a specific theme like his previous works (*Kana Kanden* on water scarcity, *Ayan* on smuggling, and *Ko* on media and youth in politics), it still engages the audience.
However, the film’s runtime of nearly three hours feels excessive. Editor Antony could have collaborated with the director to trim unnecessary scenes, making the narrative more compact and engaging. Perhaps Anand also needed an alternate approach to maintain focus during the storytelling process.
Overall, *Maattrraan* is a visually impressive and entertaining film, anchored by Suriya’s dual performance and outstanding technical work.
