Description: The 2022 movie “LUPIN THE 3rd vs. CAT’S EYE” features a star-studded cast, with Kanichi Kurita and Keiko Toda reprising their roles as Lupin III and Hitomi Kisugi, respectively. New additions to the cast include Akio Ohtsuka as Jigen Daisuke, Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, and Kōichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata. Rica Fukami and Chika Sakamoto join as Rui Kisugi and Ai Kisugi, while Yoshito Yasuhara and Mugihito play Toshio Utsumi and Sadatsugu Nagaishi. Fukami and Mugihito replace the late Toshiko Fujita and Tamio Ohki in their respective roles. Additional cast members include Banjou Ginga, Hiroki Touchi, and Takayuki Sugo.
Anri returns to perform a new version of the “Cat’s Eye” theme song, titled “Cat’s Eye 2023,” which serves as the anime’s theme song. The opening theme, “THEME FROM LUPIN vs CAT’S EYE,” is performed by fox capture plan. This project celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Lupin III anime and the 40th anniversary of Tsukasa Hojo’s “Cat’s Eye” manga. Set in the 1980s, the story follows the Cat’s Eye sisters as they aim to steal three paintings once owned by their father, with Lupin also targeting the same artworks. The paintings unveil a long-hidden mystery.
Directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita, known for their work on “Knights of Sidonia” and the Godzilla anime trilogy, the film is produced at TMS Entertainment. Keisuke Ide serves as assistant director, while Shūji Kuzuhara writes the script. Music is composed by Yuji Ohno from the Lupin III series and Kazuo Otani from the original Cat’s Eye anime. Haruhisa Nakata and Junko Yamanaka handle character designs, with Naoya Tanaka and Ferdinando Patulli credited for production design. Mitsunori Kataama is the art director, Aya Hida the editor, and Youji Shimizu the sound director.
