Description: Vyacheslav “Slava” Kolotilov (Konstantin Khabensky), a natural science teacher from the Caspian coastal village of Palchiki, is struggling to achieve success as a novelist in Moscow. Lost in thought, he steps into the street and is hit by a car driven by Nadezhda (Milla Jovovich), who is accompanied by her fiancé Danil (Ivan Urgant). Slava escapes with only a broken leg. A spark ignites between him and Nadezhda, leading her to end her engagement and agree to marry Slava instead.
Slava must leave his job and move to Moscow for the wedding. However, his plans are disrupted when he is mistaken for a football coach by a Duma deputy overseeing the Russian Youth Football Cup. The deputy takes his passport, preventing him from leaving. Eager to reunite with Nadezhda, Slava seeks advice from Khlobustin (Sergei Garmash), the coach of Central Moscow, who suggests ensuring his team loses.
In desperation, Slava recruits a group of juvenile delinquents after catching one trying to steal his phone. Although they lack experience, the team unexpectedly demonstrates impressive football skills, winning matches and frustrating Slava’s efforts to return to his fiancée.
Originally titled “Kolotilov,” the film was not initially conceived as a romantic comedy. The screenplay was revised when Milla Jovovich agreed to join the cast, influenced by her friendship with Ivan Urgant. Jovovich spent 10 days filming her scenes and personally voiced her role in Russian, marking her first performance in the language. Despite being half-Russian, she faced challenges due to her primary fluency in English. Her mother, Galina Loginova, also appears in the film.
