Description: The story begins with Sushrut Pandya, whose teacher returns his tuition fees to his parents, believing him to lack ambition. His father is constantly frustrated by Sushrut’s refusal to plan for the future, as he is solely focused on his dream of opening a Garba dance academy. The narrative then shifts to London, where Michelle Patel, a bright college student, lives with her father, Sameer Patel, who owns a chain of laundries. Their relatives deceive them by feigning a heart attack of Natthu Kaka, convincing them to travel to Vadodara, India. Upon arrival, they discover the truth but decide to stay for nine days during the Navaratri festival.
At a Garba event, Sushrut spots Michelle and falls in love at first sight. With the help of his friends and advice from his uncle, Rasik Desai, a Garba singer and clothing store owner, Sushrut devises a plan to win Michelle’s heart. During a Garba performance, Michelle accidentally hits Sushrut with a dandiya stick, leading him to fake an injury to gain her sympathy. Michelle apologizes, and Sushrut pretends to be seriously hurt, using the opportunity to reveal his feelings.
As they spend more time together, Sushrut and Michelle become close friends. However, Michelle’s relative, Khushboo, threatens to expose Sushrut’s deception. Fearing the consequences, Sushrut confesses the truth to Michelle, who reveals she already knew he had faked the injury due to his mistakes, such as bandaging the wrong side of his forehead and forgetting to keep it on after a day. Michelle then takes Sushrut to her late mother’s NGO, which provided employment opportunities for women but had closed down after her mother’s death when Michelle was just ten years old. The story also touches on Michelle’s father’s struggles, as he moved to London when Michelle was four to support her mother’s dreams but was unable to return due to business and immigration issues.
