Description: West Virginian Jimmy Logan loses his construction job in the tunnels beneath the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He shares a close bond with his daughter, Sadie, who lives with her mother, Bobbie Jo, and her wealthy new husband, Moody. Sadie participates in beauty pageants, and Jimmy’s sister, Mellie, who works as a hairstylist, takes care of her hair. Bobbie Jo and Moody plan to move to Lynchburg, where Moody intends to open a new dealership. Jimmy visits a bar run by his brother Clyde, who lost his arm during his service in Iraq. During a confrontation with a pompous NASCAR team owner, Max Chilblain, who mocks Clyde’s disability, Jimmy gets into a fight, while Clyde sets Max’s car on fire.
The next day, Jimmy reveals his plan to rob the Speedway, leveraging his knowledge of its underground pneumatic tube system used for transporting large sums of money. He enlists Clyde, Mellie, and Joe Bang, a skilled safe-cracker currently in prison, along with Joe’s brothers, Sam and Fish. To execute the plan, Clyde deliberately gets himself incarcerated to assist Joe’s temporary escape. Meanwhile, Mellie, Sam, and Fish infiltrate the Speedway’s tube system with painted cockroaches to identify the tubes leading to the vault.
While gathering supplies, Jimmy reconnects with Sylvia, a former classmate who administers a tetanus shot in her mobile clinic, which is in need of donations. He learns that construction at the Speedway is ahead of schedule, forcing them to carry out the heist earlier than planned—during the busy Coca-Cola 600 race on Memorial Day weekend. Joe orchestrates a prison riot to create a distraction, allowing him and Clyde to escape unnoticed. Mellie picks them up in a stolen Ford Shelby GT350 from Moody’s collection. At the Speedway, Sam and Fish sabotage a generator to disable credit card machines, compelling vendors to accept only cash.
