Description: **Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole (2010)**
**Storyline:**
Soren, a young barn owl, resides in the Tyto Forest with his family. He loves listening to his father’s tales of the “Guardians of Ga’Hoole,” a group of brave warrior owls led by Lyze of Kiel, who fought against the evil Pure Ones. However, Soren’s older brother, Kludd, dismisses these stories as mere myths.
When their father begins teaching them to fly, Kludd’s jealousy gets the better of him. In a moment of envy, he pushes Soren off a branch while their parents are away hunting, causing both brothers to plummet to the ground. They narrowly escape an attack by a Tasmanian devil but are captured by Jatt and Jutt, two owls working for the Pure Ones.
Soren and Kludd are taken to the St. Aegolius Home for Orphaned Owls, where they meet Nyra, the Pure Ones’ queen. Nyra informs the kidnapped owls that they will either become soldiers or pickers—owls tasked with extracting magnetic flecks from owl pellets to construct a superweapon. While Kludd joins the soldiers, Soren and a young elf owl named Gylfie are forced to become pickers. Despite being subjected to “moon-blinking,” they manage to resist its effects.
A boreal owl named Grimble teaches Soren and Gylfie to fly and urges them to find the Great Tree of Ga’Hoole. However, Nyra discovers Grimble’s actions and kills him. Soren and Gylfie escape the facility and soon meet Digger, a burrowing owl, and Twilight, a great grey owl. During their journey, Soren reunites with Mrs. P, a blind snake who served as his family’s nest maid. Mrs. P joins the group as they set out to find the Guardians.
The owls travel to the Sea of Hoolemere, where they are guided by crows to a legendary shrine guarded by an oracular echidna. The echidna sends them to the Island of Ga’Hoole. Along the way, they encounter a fierce storm, and Digger’s wings freeze, causing him to fall into the sea. Fortunately, they are rescued by Boron and Barran, the king and queen of the Guardians, who lead them to the Great Tree of Ga’Hoole.
At the Great Tree, Soren warns the Guardians about the Pure Ones’ plans. Although skeptical, an elderly screech owl named Ezylryb believes Soren’s account. Boron dispatches a great grey owl named Allomere, along with two scouts, to investigate St. Aegolius.
