Description: Legend of Deification [Jiang Ziya] is a 2020 animated film set in a mythical Chinese world. The story follows Jiang, a warrior tasked with defeating the leader of the fox spirit clan, who caused a massive war. After capturing the fox spirit leader, Jiang is ordered to execute her in heaven. However, he discovers an innocent girl possessed by the fox spirit and refuses to let her be killed by the Great Revered Master. As a result, the Master banishes Jiang to the mortal world for falling under the fox spirit’s illusion and releasing her.
On earth, Jiang spends ten years in despair, accompanied by his loyal Tiger God friend. During this time, he encounters a young fox spirit girl suffering from amnesia, who resembles the girl he tried to save. Despite initial conflict, they embark on a journey together to uncover the truth, with the Tiger God following closely. Their quest leads them to an old king, who has grown disillusioned and attempts to kill the fox girl. Shadow demons then abduct her, and Jiang discovers that the fox clan leader, known as “Nine Tails,” is still alive. She reveals that the young girl was once a concubine abandoned by her father and that their fates are intertwined through a bracelet created by the Master, binding their lives together.
Jiang, with the help of the Tiger God, rescues the girl but loses his trusted steed in the process. Convinced of Jiang’s cause, the Tiger God sacrifices some of his power to send Jiang to heaven to confront the Master. The Master explains that Jiang’s act of kindness, not his failure to kill the fox clan leader, is why he was denied godhood. A true higher deity must prioritize the greater good over compassion. Jiang pleads for a solution to save the girl from eternal suffering, and the Master instructs him to guide her through the gate of reincarnation, ensuring her salvation in the next life.
