Description: Lakshya is a 2004 Bollywood film that tells the story of Karan Shergill, played by Hrithik Roshan, a carefree and aimless young man from Delhi with no clear direction in life. His father, a wealthy businessman, and his brother, who is successful in the United States, contrast sharply with Karan’s lack of ambition. His girlfriend, Romila Dutta, known as Romi, played by Preity Zinta, is a student activist and aspiring journalist who encourages him to find purpose. When his friend Parvesh decides to join the Indian Army, Karan, despite his parents’ disapproval, takes the Combined Defence Services Examination and is selected for the Indian Military Academy. His undisciplined and overconfident nature leads to struggles during training, and he eventually quits. Facing disappointment from his parents and a breakup with Romi, Karan realizes his mistakes, returns to the academy, and transforms into a disciplined officer. Commissioned as a Lieutenant, he serves in the 3rd battalion of the Punjab Regiment under Col. Sunil Damle, played by Amitabh Bachchan. While on leave, Karan discovers Romi is engaged. His leave is cut short due to the outbreak of the Kargil War, and he is tasked with securing Point 5179, a critical strategic location. The film highlights Karan’s journey from aimlessness to determination and his role in defending his country.
