Description: In 2017, “Lady Bird” tells the story of Christine McPherson, played by Saoirse Ronan, a high school senior in Sacramento, California. Christine, who prefers to be called Lady Bird, attends a Catholic school and dreams of studying at a prestigious college on the east coast, despite her family’s financial challenges. Her mother, Marion, often criticizes her for being ungrateful. Lady Bird and her best friend, Julie, join the school theater program, where she develops feelings for Danny O’Neill, a student from a nearby boys’ school. Their relationship blossoms but ends abruptly after Lady Bird discovers Danny kissing another boy.
To fulfill her mother’s wishes, Lady Bird takes a job at a coffee shop, where she meets Kyle, a popular student. She begins to drift away from Julie and becomes closer to Jenna, a classmate, even participating in rebellious acts like vandalism. As Lady Bird grows closer to Kyle and Jenna, she distances herself from Julie and eventually leaves the theater program. Her relationship with Kyle becomes complicated when she learns he lied about his past experiences.
Lady Bird’s journey is marked by struggles with identity, family, and friendships. After a series of conflicts, including a suspension from school, she begins to mend her relationship with her mother. The film explores themes of self-discovery, ambition, and the complexities of growing up.
