**Storyline:**
Sir Richard’s Mental Sanatorium is managed by the strict and authoritarian Dr. Khurana, alongside his daughter Tanvi and another doctor, Sunil. Tanvi has a compassionate approach to treating patients, particularly a woman labeled as patient number 36. Her gentle methods directly oppose her father’s harsh and inhumane treatment of the mentally ill. When patient number 36 is discharged, Tanvi’s efforts go unrecognized, leaving her devastated and bitter. As a result, she resolves to distance herself from patients, especially patient number 36.
The story takes a turn when a young man named Anand is brought to the sanatorium by a court order. His brother requests immediate admission, but the doctors insist on evaluating his mental state first. Initially, Anand shows no signs of insanity. However, his behavior changes drastically when he notices a housefly in the room. Attempting to catch it, he becomes increasingly violent, smashing objects with a club whenever the fly lands. This sudden outburst convinces the doctors of his instability, and they admit him to the facility.
Inside the sanatorium, Anand attempts to befriend other patients. Dr. Sunil forms a caring bond with him, as it is revealed that Anand’s father once helped Sunil become a doctor. Despite this connection, Anand’s daily antics and childish behavior frustrate Tanvi, who demands his removal from the asylum. Later, Sunil discovers Anand’s diary and shares it with Tanvi. Reading his entries, Tanvi learns about Anand’s tragic past.
Anand was once a talented musician deeply in love with Maya, a lively nun in Romania. While Maya was aware of his feelings, she did not reciprocate, leaving Anand heartbroken and conflicted. This emotional turmoil ultimately led to his mental breakdown.
