Description: Seven-year-old Wen is vacationing with her parents, Eric and Andrew, at their secluded cabin in rural Pennsylvania. During their stay, Wen is approached by a mysterious man named Leonard. At first, Leonard appears friendly and explains that he needs the family’s help to save the world. While Wen and Leonard bond over catching grasshoppers, she grows wary when three more individuals arrive, each armed with makeshift weapons. Wen rushes to warn her parents, but the intruders break into the cabin, tie them up, and leave Eric with a concussion.
Leonard and his companions—Sabrina, Adriane, and Redmond—claim they have never met before and insist they do not want to harm the family. However, they explain that over the past week, they have been driven by visions and an unknown force to locate the family. They predict an imminent apocalypse, marked by rising oceans, a deadly plague, the sky falling, and eternal darkness. The group insists this catastrophe can only be prevented if the family sacrifices one of their own. If they refuse, they will survive but be the last people left on Earth. Eric and Andrew dismiss the intruders as delusional and driven by hatred.
When the family refuses to make a choice, the visitors sacrifice Redmond by covering his head and beating him to death. As Redmond dies, Eric, still concussed, sees a mysterious figure of light. Shortly after, news reports confirm devastating mega tsunamis, which Leonard claims is the beginning of the apocalypse. Andrew recalls recognizing Redmond as Rory O’Bannon, a homophobe who attacked him in a bar years ago and was later imprisoned. He suspects Rory tracked them down for revenge. The family is left to grapple with the terrifying reality of the intruders’ claims and the horrifying choices they must face.
