**Storyline:**
In West Dallas, Texas, 22-year-old drug dealer Chris Smith visits his father Ansel and stepmother Sharla at their trailer park after being kicked out of his mother Adele’s house. To make matters worse, Adele stole Chris’s cocaine money, leaving him desperate to repay a $6,000 debt to his associate, Digger Soames. Chris proposes a plan to Ansel: by killing Adele, they can claim a $50,000 life insurance policy, with Chris’s sister Dottie as the sole beneficiary. After paying a hitman, the remaining money would be split among Chris, Ansel, Dottie, and Sharla. Dottie agrees to the plan, and Chris arranges a meeting with Joe Cooper, a police detective who moonlights as a contract killer. Before meeting, Dottie reveals to Joe that Adele once tried to kill her during her infancy.
The plan nearly fails when Joe demands $25,000 upfront, which Chris and Ansel cannot afford. However, Joe becomes intrigued by Dottie, a virgin, and offers to take her as a form of “retainer” until the insurance money is paid. Joe seduces Dottie, and their relationship begins. Meanwhile, Digger’s henchmen severely beat Chris, threatening to kill him unless he pays his debt. Chris changes his mind and asks Joe to cancel the hit and stop seeing Dottie, only to discover that Joe has already killed Adele. With Chris’s reluctant assistance, Joe hides the body in a car and sets it on fire.
After Adele’s death, the family learns that the insurance beneficiary is actually Rex, Adele’s boyfriend, not Dottie. Chris admits he heard about the policy from Rex, who also suggested hiring Joe, tricking Chris into orchestrating Adele’s murder. Ansel blames Chris for the disaster and suggests he take his own life. Chris tries convincing Dottie to escape with him from Digger and Joe, both expecting payment. Dottie agrees but insists on seeing Joe one last time.
