Description: Kesari is a 2019 film that tells the story of Havildar Ishar Singh, a member of the Sikh Regiment in the British Indian Army stationed at Gulistan Fort near the Indian-Afghan border. His exceptional combat skills make him a target of jealousy for a British officer who views native Indians as inferior and cowardly. While returning from a patrol, Ishar and his troops encounter Afghan tribesmen led by Mullah Saidullah attempting to execute a woman who refuses to accept her forced marriage. Ishar intervenes, rescues the woman by killing her husband, and disobeys his superior in the process.
Back at the base, the British officer reports Ishar’s disobedience to the commanding officer at Lockhart Fort. When the Afghans attack Gulistan Fort, Ishar defends it bravely, eliminating many enemies but is later punished and transferred to Saragarhi Fort, a communication post between Gulistan and Lockhart. Upon arrival, Ishar finds the troop in disarray and imposes strict discipline, earning their respect through his own sacrifices.
Meanwhile, Saidullah unites the Afghan tribes to launch a coordinated attack on Indian territories. Ishar and his comrade, Lal Singh, attempt to gather information from a missing informant. As the Afghan forces march toward Saragarhi, the British commanding officer warns Ishar of the impending threat. Surrounded by thousands of tribesmen, Ishar and his battalion face an overwhelming force. Despite orders to abandon the fort, they choose to fight to the death, defending their position with unwavering courage.
