Description: The movie “Kalashnikov AK-47 2020” follows the life of Mikhail Kalashnikov, a young farmer’s son from Altai, who secretly crafts a functional toy rifle. The story shifts to 1941 during World War II, where Kalashnikov, now a senior sergeant in the Red Army, serves as a tank commander. He is seriously injured in the Battle of Bryansk while destroying a German anti-tank gun and is removed from the frontlines. During transport, he and a comrade encounter German soldiers, and Kalashnikov witnesses his companion’s submachine gun malfunction due to design flaws. This motivates him to use his inventive skills to develop a new automatic weapon for the Soviet army.
After returning home, Kalashnikov visits Matai Station in Kazakhstan, where he had previously worked as an engineer but was dismissed for using the workshop for personal projects. He approaches his former boss, Krotov, seeking permission to assemble his latest invention, but is denied. However, after presenting his design to a high-ranking officer named Basarov, he gains authorization to proceed. With the help of workers, he successfully builds his new submachine gun. While attempting to deliver it to Basarov, he is mistakenly arrested, but an ordnance officer recognizes the weapon’s innovative design and sends it for evaluation. As a result, Kalashnikov is released and encouraged to present his invention to General Pavel Kurbatkin, who approves his participation in a national arms competition.
Kalashnikov is sent to Golutvin, a Shchurov arms testing facility, where he competes against renowned designers like Alexey Sudayev and Sergei Korovin. There, he meets Ekaterina Moiseeva, a design assistant who later becomes his wife. Although his weapon loses to Sudayev’s design, he is granted permission to continue working on new inventions, with support from his friends.
