Description: Kal Ho Naa Ho, a 2003 Hindi film, follows the life of Naina Catherine Kapur, a reserved and pessimistic MBA student living in New York City. She resides with her widowed mother Jennifer, her disabled brother Shiv, her adopted sister Gia, and her grandmother Lajjo. Jennifer runs a struggling café with her neighbor, Jaswinder “Jazz” Kapoor. Lajjo harbors resentment toward Jennifer and Gia, believing Gia’s adoption led to the suicide of her son, Naina’s father.
Naina’s life is monotonous and overshadowed by her father’s loss until Aman Mathur moves in next door with his mother and uncle. Aman’s positivity begins to transform Naina’s family. He suggests converting the café into an Indian restaurant, which becomes a success, easing their financial struggles. Aman encourages Naina to embrace happiness and live life fully, and she soon falls in love with him.
Meanwhile, Naina’s best friend Rohit Patel also develops feelings for her and seeks Aman’s help in confessing. When Naina reveals she loves Aman instead, Rohit is devastated and informs Aman. Naina later discovers a wedding photo of Aman and a woman named Priya, believing he is married, and leaves heartbroken.
Aman’s mother confronts him, and he reveals he is hiding his true feelings for Naina because he is terminally ill with a heart condition. Priya is actually his childhood friend and doctor, not his wife. Determined to secure Naina’s future, Aman devises a plan to unite her with Rohit, believing he can provide her with a stable life. Through his efforts, Naina and Rohit’s friendship deepens into love.
