Description: “Kadaikutty Singam,” a 2018 Tamil movie, follows the story of Perunazhi Gunasingam (played by Karthi), a successful and content farmer living with his family and father, Perunazhi Ranasingam (Sathyaraj). Years ago, Ranasingam longed for a son despite having multiple daughters from his first wife, Vanavan Madevi (Viji Chandrasekhar). To secure an heir, he married Vanavan’s younger sister, Panchavan Madhevi (Bhanupriya). However, fate played a cruel trick when Panchavan gave birth to a girl, while Ranasingam’s eldest daughter, Mangamma Rani (Mounika), had a son. Disheartened, Ranasingam gave up his quest for a male heir.
Eight years later, Vanavan unexpectedly gave birth to a boy, Gunasingam. Now a 27-year-old, Gunasingam lives a peaceful life as a natural farmer but faces two significant challenges: the ongoing feud between his two brothers-in-law over inheritance and his dilemma of choosing between marrying his third sister’s daughter, Poompozhil Chellamma (Priya Bhavani Shankar), or his step-sister’s daughter, Aandal Priyadarshini (Arthana Binu), as per rural Tamil Nadu customs.
Complications arise when Gunasingam falls in love with Kannukiniyal “Iniya” (Sayyeshaa), the daughter of a wealthy man, Thillainayagam (Ponvannan), whose family history is intertwined with Ranasingam’s past. The movie explores themes of family, tradition, and love in a rural setting.”
