Description: Kabali is a 2016 film centered around Kabaleeswaran, known as Kabali, a don based in Kuala Lumpur. After spending 25 years in prison on false charges of instigating a massacre at a Hindu temple, which claimed many lives, including his wife Kumudhavalli, Kabali is released. He reunites with his former gang member, Ameer, and begins confronting his enemies. The opposing gang, ’43,’ is led by Tony Lee, a Malaysian gangster, and includes Veerasekaran, Loganathan (Loga), and Seeni. Kabali severely injures Seeni and recruits Jeeva, the son of one of his former students.
During a confrontation, Loga reveals a shocking detail: if Kabali’s wife had survived, Veera would have sold her into prostitution. Enraged, Kabali kills Loga by driving a car over him. This revelation sparks hope in Kabali that his wife might still be alive. Later, Kabali survives an assassination attempt by Tamizh Kumaran, whose father, Tamilmaaran, was killed by Kabali years ago. Kumaran, who had met Kabali on his release day, works as a teacher at the Free Life Foundation School, started by Kabali and Ameer to reform young criminals.
At a function held by the school, Kabali reflects on his past. He was once the protégé of Tamilnesan, a don who fought for the rights of Tamil Malaysians. Tamilnesan was killed by Veerasekaran, who opposed his strict rules against illegal activities like drug smuggling and prostitution. After Tamilnesan’s death, Kabali took over his gang. The film delves into Kabali’s journey of redemption, revenge, and hope for a better future.
