Description: In the 2015 animated movie “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis,” the plot begins with the mysterious killing of the crew aboard the USS California, a nuclear submarine in the Atlantic Ocean. At the Justice League’s headquarters, Cyborg is informed of the incident by Colonel Steve Trevor. Upon investigating the submarine, Cyborg discovers handprints on its hull and finds that nuclear missiles have been stolen. The Justice League, including Flash, Shazam, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Batman, later examines the recovered vessel. Wonder Woman identifies the attackers as warriors from Atlantis, transformed by their king’s powerful trident. This leads Superman and Batman to consult Stephen Shin, an expert on Atlantis.
Meanwhile, in Atlantis, Prince Orm and Black Manta confront Queen Atlanna, Orm’s mother, about declaring war on humanity. Orm holds the Justice League responsible for his father’s death, while Queen Atlanna blames Darkseid. Orm advocates for a preemptive strike, but Atlanna opposes him and instructs Mera to bring Arthur Curry, her other son, to Atlantis. Black Manta orchestrates an attack on Atlantis using a disguised submarine and stolen missiles to frame humans for the assault. This provokes outrage among the Atlantean citizens and Orm, who push for war, though Queen Atlanna remains against it.
Elsewhere, Batman and Superman discover Stephen Shin’s destroyed research, including a photograph of Arthur Curry and a letter revealing his half-Atlantean heritage. Shin meets Arthur but is killed by Atlantean soldiers sent by Black Manta. Arthur is rescued by Mera, who uses her hydrokinetic abilities to defeat the soldiers. Upon waking in Atlantean ruins, Arthur learns from Mera that Queen Atlanna is his mother. Atlanna believes Arthur can unite the two worlds. Mera prepares him with royal attire, but Arthur chooses to wear only the iconic orange and green Atlantean bodysuit.
The film explores themes of identity, loyalty, and the struggle for peace between two worlds.
