Description: In a flashback, exorcist and con artist John Constantine and Jason Blood play a high-stakes poker game against the Demons Three. Constantine wagers his home, the House of Mystery, in exchange for a box of artifacts, including a damaged Dreamstone. When both sides are caught cheating, Constantine convinces Blood to summon Etrigan, a demon bound to Blood’s body, to defeat the demons. Later, Blood scolds Constantine for forcing him to summon Etrigan, and the two part ways.
In the present, a magical threat emerges, causing ordinary people to commit violent murders, believing their victims are demons. The Justice League investigates and concludes magic is the source of the crimes, though Bruce Wayne (Batman) remains skeptical. At Wayne Manor, Bruce discovers a message urging him to find Constantine, leading him to seek out Zatanna Zatara. With the help of Deadman (Boston Brand), Zatanna agrees to assist. They guide Bruce to the House of Mystery, where they meet Constantine, who reluctantly teams up with them. They are joined by Black Orchid, the spirit of the House of Mystery, and begin investigating the supernatural events.
The group visits Ritchie Simpson, a friend of Constantine and Zatanna, who is terminally ill and guarded by spirits of Death. Ritchie, resentful of Constantine for abandoning him, lends them the Keshanti Key. Using the key, the team accesses a victim’s memory and learns he was possessed by an unknown entity. A summoned creature attacks, but Batman, Deadman, Constantine, and Zatanna manage to escape and destroy it. Together, they continue their quest to uncover the source of the magical threat.
