Description: Siddharth “Sid” Arya, played by John Abraham, is an ordinary man who runs a bookstore in London called Kagaz Ke Phool with his friends. His circle includes Omar, a cheerful Pakistani, and Amit, a naive yet jovial companion. Sid’s life also revolves around other friends like Aliya, Omar’s pregnant sister, her boyfriend Nick, and Uday, who is gay. Sid’s girlfriend, Krutika, an air hostess, often dominates him, leaving him frustrated, but he still makes efforts to keep her happy.
One night, Sid begins receiving calls from individuals contemplating suicide. He learns from Suhana Malik, an NGO volunteer, that his phone number was accidentally printed on fliers for a suicide helpline called DOST India. Despite the inconvenience, Sid decides to volunteer, using his experience in consoling people to help. During this time, he receives a call from Mishka, a beautiful but deeply troubled woman who is heartbroken after being abandoned by her ex-boyfriend, Kabir, a writer. Mishka expresses her suicidal thoughts, and the two gradually become phone friends. To maintain anonymity, Mishka starts referring to Sid as “Fidato.”
By coincidence, Mishka visits Sid’s bookstore to buy books on Fidato’s suggestion. Though their first meeting is awkward, Fidato encourages Mishka to befriend Sid, believing it will help her find happiness and move forward. Over time, Sid and Mishka grow closer through their nightly conversations. Sid discovers that Mishka is a painter who has abandoned her career because it reminds her of her painful past with Kabir. With Sid’s support and encouragement, Mishka begins to heal and decides to start her life anew.
