The News Minute’s critic also gave it 2.5 out of 5, mentioning that it narrowly avoids turning unpleasant.
The film’s principal photography began on November 10, 2022, with shooting locations in Karalam, Iranjalakuda, and Kodungaloor. Production wrapped up on December 17, 2022. The first look poster was released in January 2023, and the film received a “U” certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. The trailer was released shortly after.
Directed by Aniesh Upaasana, Janaki Jaane stars Navya Nair and Saiju Kurup in lead roles. It premiered on Disney+ Hotstar but struggled to gain attention, partly due to its release timing, coinciding with Jude Anthany Joseph’s 2018 hit, which dominated screens as the highest-grossing Malayalam film.
