The romantic comedy, which premiered on April 28, tells the story of a high school girl and her scandalous romance with an older man. The film grossed VND86 billion ($3.78 million), showcasing its popularity. The plot revolves around Linh Dan, a high school student, her boyfriend Tony, and Hoang, a playboy from Sai Gon. Linh Dan’s relationship with Tony takes a sour turn when she catches him kissing another girl, Yen, at a school event. Heartbroken and seeking revenge, Linh Dan seduces Hoang, leading to a one-night stand. She then blackmails him into pretending to be her boyfriend, threatening to expose their encounter and land him in legal trouble due to her age.
The film features rising stars like Kieu Minh Tuan (Hoang), Tony (Will from the 365 music band), Chau Bui (Yen), and Kaity Nguyen (Linh Dan), who moved to the US at age 10 and gained fame through online beauty videos. Remarkably, Kaity had no prior acting experience before this role.
At the festival, *The House Maid* and *Father and Son* were honored with Silver Lotus awards. Actress Kathy Uyen, who starred in *Jailbait*, received the best actress award, while Quy Binh from *I’ll Wait* was named best actor. In the documentary category, *Live and Tell*, directed by Nguyen Hoang Lam, won the Golden Lotus prize, with *Home Coming* and *Vietnam Under Subsidy* receiving Silver Lotus awards.
