Description: Jai Kali Kalkattawali is an Indian Bengali-language anthology crime drama series titled “Chalo Paltai.” It premiered on 24 July 2017 and features actors Ananya Chatterjee and Biswanath Basu. Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, the series concluded on 1 June 2019 after airing 661 episodes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was re-aired on Star Jalsha and Star Jalsha HD during the lockdown period.
The story revolves around Abhaya, a devoted follower of Goddess Kali and a detective who secretly acts as a savior for women. Abhaya’s life took a tragic turn when her mother fell victim to domestic violence and died, leaving her orphaned at the age of six. She was then raised by her in-laws, as her father, a priest for the Mukherjee family, passed away soon after.
The series begins with a glimpse into Abhaya’s childhood, where she witnesses her mother’s murder in a horrific dream while praying to Goddess Kali. This traumatic event haunts her throughout her life. As an adult, Abhaya balances her roles as a devoted housewife and a crime-solving detective. She often disguises herself to catch criminals while addressing injustices faced by women.
The narrative follows Abhaya’s journey as she uses her intellect and courage to fight against societal evils, all while maintaining her familial responsibilities. The series concludes with a gripping finale where Radharani plants a time bomb in Abhaya’s chair. However, Abhaya triumphs, leading to Radharani’s death. The show ends with Abhaya delivering a poignant message.
