**Storyline:**
A week after the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, journalist interviews Jacqueline Kennedy at her Hyannis Port, Massachusetts home, focusing on her husband’s legacy. Jackie reflects on her 1962 televised White House tour before addressing the tragedy of her husband’s death. She recounts the moments leading up to the assassination and her profound shock. In the aftermath, she is comforted by close associates of newly sworn-in President Lyndon B. Johnson aboard Air Force One. U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy shares her grief and escorts her back to Washington, where she expresses deep concern for her children’s emotional well-being.
Robert continues to support Jackie while managing his own sorrow, assisting with funeral arrangements and family care. Struggling to cope, Jackie relies on medication and alcohol and seeks guidance from a priest. She, along with Robert, witnesses Lee Harvey Oswald’s murder by Jack Ruby on live television. Although Robert insists on personally informing her when the time is right, Jackie discovers the news immediately and criticizes him for withholding it. After John F. Kennedy Jr.’s third birthday, Robert confides his fear that Jack’s presidency may be forgotten by future generations.
