**Storyline:**
Vikram Sethi, a renowned British writer of Indian origin, finds himself in a dire situation during the launch of his third book in Mumbai. After discovering his wife Katherine dead in their hotel room, he becomes the prime suspect. Fleeing by car, he is pursued by the police, leading to an accident. Injured, he seeks refuge in a nearby apartment, where he encounters Maya, a young housewife. Spotting a police car outside, she rushes for help.
The police soon find Vikram next to the body of Maya’s husband, Shekhar, who has been murdered. Burnt photographs are also discovered in the trash. Dev Verma, the officer investigating the double homicide, interrogates both Vikram and Maya to uncover the truth.
According to Vikram, he fled to avoid being framed for his wife’s murder. He claims he sought help from Maya, who then attempted to seduce him. He recounts how a man named Chirag entered the apartment, claiming to be Maya’s husband, but Vikram later realized this was false. A confrontation ensued, leaving Vikram unconscious. When he awoke, he found Shekhar’s body nearby.
Maya’s version paints a different picture. She describes how Vikram, injured, approached her for help. After learning from the news that he was wanted for his wife’s murder, she let him in. Vikram allegedly took her hostage with a knife, searching for documents in her husband’s desk. She also admits to having an extramarital affair with Chirag, whom she turned away during the incident.
The conflicting accounts leave the investigators with a complex puzzle to solve.
