Description: iSmart Shankar is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language science fiction action film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, co-produced by Charmme Kaur. The movie features Ram Pothineni in the lead role, alongside Satyadev Kancharana, Nabha Natesh, and Nidhhi Agerwal. The plot revolves around an assassin who assists the police after the memories of a deceased officer are transferred to his brain. The film’s music is composed by Mani Sharma. Released theatrically on 18 July 2019, it became a commercial success, running for over 100 days at the box office. A sequel, Double iSmart, has been announced. Critics gave mixed reviews, praising the performances, soundtrack, and action sequences but criticizing the second half and climax.
The story follows Shankar, a street-smart assassin working under Kaka. He falls for Chandini after encountering her while extorting money from a builder. Despite her initial annoyance, Chandini later realizes her mistake. Under Kaka’s orders, Shankar kills CM Kasi Vishwanath and flees to Goa with Chandini. However, the police track them down, leading to a shootout where Chandini is killed, and Shankar is arrested.
Meanwhile, neuroscientist Sara, working on memory transfer, achieves successful results with rats. Her fiancé, Arun, a CBI officer investigating Vishwanath’s murder, suspects a higher force behind the crime. Shankar is released from prison, deducing Kaka’s involvement in Chandini’s death and planning to kill him. When Kaka attempts to escape, Shankar shoots him in Sara’s car and flees.
Arun, close to cracking the case, is killed by goons. Desperate to solve the mystery, CBI officer Chandrakanth transfers Arun’s memories to Shankar with Sara’s help, erasing Shankar’s past in the process.
