The plot begins with Red Skull and Taskmaster devising a plan to eliminate Captain America by stealing Iron Man’s advanced weapons. After completing their training, Hydra soldiers infiltrate the Helicarrier and target the weapons vault. During the attack, they successfully steal the Stark Repulsor Cannon. Iron Man immediately pursues the stolen weapon, while Captain America confronts Taskmaster. However, Taskmaster defeats Captain America and captures him, taking him to their base.
Red Skull aims to create a superhuman army by extracting Captain America’s blood and using a machine called the Neurotransducer to replicate his powers. Meanwhile, Iron Man discovers that his Mark VI armor has been stolen by Taskmaster during the infiltration. He tracks their base to an abandoned military bunker in Southern Estonia.
The serum is successfully created, and Red Skull brainwashes Captain America, turning him into an ally of Hydra, now known as Captain Hydra. Iron Man arrives to rescue Captain America, but the brainwashed hero fights against him. During the battle, Captain America hacks into Iron Man’s systems, allowing Taskmaster to gain control of the Mark VI armor. Iron Man eventually restores Captain America’s true self, and the two stage a fake fight to deceive Taskmaster into believing Hydra still has control over Captain America. Taskmaster reveals his plan to overthrow Red Skull and rule the world, but Iron Man and Captain America defeat him. Despite this, Taskmaster escapes and activates the Mark VI armor, branding himself as “The Iron Master.”
The story concludes with the Avengers traveling to Antarctica, where they discover a massive rocket containing Captain America’s blood, capable of creating a global superhuman army. They also find an underground facility mass-producing Stark’s repulsor cannons and replicas of Captain America’s shield. Together, Iron Man and Captain America battle the remaining Hydra soldiers and successfully shut down the facility, preventing Red Skull’s plans from coming to fruition.
