Description: In the movie “Inside 2023,” Nemo, an art thief, recounts a childhood memory where his teacher asked him to choose three items to save in a house fire. Instead of selecting his family, Nemo chose his cat, an AC/DC record, and his sketchbook. Reflecting on this, he notes that the cat has since died, and he lost the album, but he still has the sketchbook, reinforcing his belief that “art is for keeps.”
In the present, Nemo, disguised as a handyman, breaks into the penthouse of a wealthy art collector. However, a malfunction in the security system traps him inside. Abandoned by his contacts, Nemo is left to survive on his own. His escape attempts fail, and the penthouse becomes increasingly inhospitable due to a broken thermometer that alternates between extreme heat and cold. With limited access to food and water—only from timed sprinklers in an indoor garden—Nemo struggles to survive.
After entering the penthouse through bird netting on the patio, Nemo witnesses a pigeon becoming trapped and eventually starving to death. As weeks pass, Nemo faces hunger and injuries from his relentless escape efforts. He focuses on building a large scaffold from the apartment’s furniture to reach the skylight. Gradually, he makes progress in dismantling the skylight frame using tools he creates from artwork and furniture. Meanwhile, he becomes obsessed with a young housekeeper, whom he stalks through a security camera feed displayed on the apartment’s television.
