Ten months after Chan’s death, Lau Kin-ming, a former police mole, faces demotion and an internal investigation. He fabricates a story about Chan’s death while struggling to conceal his true identity. Discovering Hon had planted multiple moles in the police, Lau engages in a tense battle of wits with Yeung, who may be one of them.
Eleven months after Chan’s death, flashbacks reveal Yeung’s suspicions about Lau. Yeung uncovers evidence proving Lau’s ties to Hon. The film concludes with Yeung buried beside Chan, and Shen reflecting on how these two men changed events rather than being changed by them.
Meanwhile, Lau descends into mental instability, haunted by memories and trapped in his own “continuous hell.” In a poignant scene, his ex-wife Mary visits him, and he taps Morse code spelling “HEL…” as the screen fades to black.
