Description: In 1935, Indiana Jones narrowly escapes a murder attempt by Lao Che, a Shanghai crime boss who hired him to retrieve Emperor Nurhaci’s remains. With his young companion Short Round and nightclub singer Willie Scott, Indy flees Shanghai on a cargo plane. Unbeknownst to them, the pilots, bribed by Lao Che, abandon the plane mid-flight by parachuting out. The trio narrowly escapes by jumping out on an inflatable raft, enduring a perilous journey down the Himalayas and a raging river.
They eventually arrive in the village of Mayapore, India, where the villagers plead for their help. They ask Indy to recover a sacred stone stolen from their shrine and rescue their missing children, who were taken by evil forces at nearby Pankot Palace. Indy agrees, suspecting the stone is one of the five Sankara stones, mythical relics gifted by the gods to aid humanity against evil.
At Pankot Palace, the trio is warmly welcomed and attends a lavish banquet hosted by the young Maharaja. Despite the hospitality, Indy’s suspicions about the Thuggee cult are dismissed. Later, Indy is attacked by an assassin, leading him to discover hidden tunnels behind a palace statue. Overcoming traps, he, Short Round, and Willie uncover an underground temple where the Thuggees worship Kali through human sacrifice. They also learn the cult possesses three Sankara stones and has enslaved the village children to find the remaining two hidden in the palace catacombs.
