Description: The Twelve Olympians imprisoned the Titans beneath Mount Tartarus, losing the powerful Epirus Bow. King Hyperion seeks the bow to release the Titans. He tries to capture the virgin oracle Phaedra to use her visions to locate it. Hyperion learns that a man named Theseus will defeat him. As villagers prepare to flee Hyperion’s army, Theseus, a warrior trained by the Old Man, is told he has been chosen by the gods. Theseus’s mother, Aethra, was raped by Zeus, making them outcasts. They are forced to stay behind by Lysander and his soldiers. Theseus fights them until General Helios dismisses Lysander for his actions. Lysander then betrays his people by offering his services and his village’s location to Hyperion, who maims him as a traitor. Hyperion’s forces attack Theseus’s village, killing Aethra and capturing Theseus.
The Old Man is revealed to be Zeus, who instructs the gods not to interfere in mortal affairs unless the Titans are released. The gods must trust humanity’s free will to stop Hyperion. Theseus is chained to the thief Stavros. Nearby, Phaedra has a vision of Theseus aiding Hyperion. When Hyperion’s guards assault Phaedra and her sisters, they retaliate, causing chaos. Phaedra uses the opportunity to escape with Theseus, Stavros, and other slaves. They pursue Hyperion but are overpowered by his forces while trying to seize a boat. Poseidon, unseen by Zeus, intervenes by creating a tidal wave that destroys Hyperion’s men. Later, Phaedra has another vision of Theseus near a shrouded body, prompting him to return home to bury his mother.
After burying Aethra, Theseus discovers the Epirus Bow hidden in a rock. He retrieves it but is attacked by Hyperion’s henchman, the Beast. Theseus kills the Beast and uses the bow to free his allies before collapsing from poisoned wounds. Phaedra tends to Theseus and falls in love with him.
