Description: If Anything Happens I Love You is a heartfelt story about two parents struggling to cope after the tragic loss of their pre-teen daughter. Emotionally distant from each other, their true feelings are represented by shadows that watch over them. While the father steps outside, the mother hesitates to enter her daughter’s bedroom, overwhelmed by grief.
One day, while doing laundry, the mother breaks down after washing her daughter’s shirt. A soccer ball falls, opening the door to her daughter’s room and triggering a record player to play the song “1950.” Moved by the music, the mother finally enters the room, where she reunites with her husband. As the song plays, a shadow of their daughter emerges, and the parents begin to relive cherished memories of her life.
Through a series of flashbacks, they recall their daughter’s love for soccer, her 10th birthday celebration, and her first kiss. In the final memory, the daughter leaves for school, unknowingly heading toward tragedy. The parents’ shadows try to stop her, but they cannot change the past. Inside the school, she becomes a victim of a school shooting, sending a final text to her parents: “If anything happens, I love you.”
As the parents’ shadows drift apart, the daughter’s shadow brings them together, reminding them of the beautiful moments they shared with her. In the present, the parents embrace, and the daughter’s shadow transforms into a bright light, symbolizing hope and healing.
