**Plot Summary:**
In 2005, Corporal Joe Bauers, a U.S. Army librarian deemed the “most average” individual in the military, is chosen for a suspended animation experiment. Since no suitable female candidate is available, a prostitute named Rita is recruited by bribing her pimp, Upgrayedd. However, the project is abandoned when the officer in charge is arrested for running a prostitution ring under Upgrayedd’s influence. Over the next 500 years, society deteriorates as intelligent people choose not to have children, while the least intelligent reproduce excessively, leading to increasingly dumb generations.
By 2505, Joe and Rita’s chambers are discovered after a massive garbage pile collapses. Joe awakens in the apartment of Frito Pendejo. He explores what was once Washington, D.C., finding a society that has become anti-intellectual, with people speaking in simplified English and indulging in overconsumption and vulgar entertainment. Despite advanced technology, everything is poorly maintained and driven by excessive commercialism. Initially believing he is hallucinating, Joe eventually accepts the grim reality.
Arrested for lacking a barcode tattoo to pay for medical services, Joe is sent to prison after being represented by the incompetent Frito. Meanwhile, Rita resumes her work as a prostitute but quickly realizes she can exploit the population’s stupidity by charging without providing services. Joe, renamed “Not Sure” by a malfunctioning tattoo machine, tricks a guard into releasing him and escapes prison. He teams up with Frito, who reveals the existence of a time machine to return to 2005. Promising future wealth, Joe convinces Frito to help. However, while attempting to use the machine inside a massive Costco store, Joe is identified by a scanner and apprehended.
