Description: In “Ice Age: The Meltdown,” released in 2006, Manny, Sid, and Diego find themselves in a valley enclosed by towering ice walls. They soon realize the walls form a dam holding back a massive body of water that could flood the valley. A vulture informs them of a boat at the far end of the valley that could save them, but they must reach it within three days. Manny is also troubled by the possibility that he might be the last mammoth alive.
As the group evacuates, a glacier containing two ancient sea reptiles, a Cymbospondylus and a Pliosauroidea, breaks off. While Manny is briefly separated from the group, Diego and Sid encounter two playful opossums, Crash and Eddie. Manny, still grieving the loss of his family, is surprised to meet Ellie, a female woolly mammoth who believes she is an opossum and the adoptive sister of Crash and Eddie.
Sid invites Ellie to join them, and she brings along her brothers. During their journey, the group faces a perilous encounter with the ancient reptiles while crossing a pond. Sid encourages Diego to confront his fears, pointing out that Diego acts like prey around water. Later, Ellie recalls the place where she was adopted and finally realizes she is a mammoth. Despite bonding with Manny, she distances herself when he mentions the idea of “saving their species.”
