**Storyline:**
The film follows the story of a young woman named Fei Fei, who is introduced to the legend of the moon goddess. According to the tale, the goddess consumed an elixir for immortality and now resides on the moon, accompanied only by her Jade Rabbit, awaiting her archer lover. As the annual Moon Festival approaches, Fei Fei and her family prepare mooncakes for the village. However, tragedy strikes when Fei Fei’s mother falls ill and passes away, leaving the family in mourning.
Four years later, Fei Fei has grown into a bright and scientifically-minded young woman who continues to work in her family’s shop. She remains a believer in the legend of Chang’e, the moon goddess. Her life takes a turn when she discovers her father is dating a new woman, Mrs. Zhong, and is further frustrated by Mrs. Zhong’s lively son, Chin. Determined to prove the existence of Chang’e, Fei Fei designs a rocket shaped like a Chinese paper lantern, powered by fireworks.
During her initial attempt, Chin secretly boards the rocket, causing it to malfunction. Just as they begin to crash, a mystical beam of energy captures the rocket and transports them to the moon. There, they encounter playful spirits who guide them to Luminaria, the moon’s magical city.
Fei Fei’s family later joins them for the Moon Festival, where she learns of her father’s engagement to Mrs. Zhong. Feeling emotional, Fei Fei sings a song in memory of her mother and, inspired by a crane and the legend of Chang’e, decides to build a rocket to the moon.
Upon their arrival, Fei Fei and Chin are introduced to Chang’e, who has taken the form of a pop star. Alongside her backup dancers, the Lunettes, Chang’e performs a concert for the citizens of Luminaria, sharing the story of her magic and the origins of the moon’s enchanting world.
