Description: “Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission,” released in 2013, explores events that take place decades before the main storyline of “Hunter x Hunter.” The story begins with Isaac Netero, the chairman of the Hunters Association, defeating a formidable enemy named Jed. In the present day, a group of mysterious cloaked individuals infiltrates a prison, freeing the captives and recruiting them for their mission.
Meanwhile, Gon and Killua, taking a break from their adventures with Kite, visit Heaven’s Arena to support their friend Zushi in the Battle Olympia Tournament. Leorio, who is set to meet them, is ambushed and knocked unconscious by the cloaked men.
Before the tournament starts, Gon and Killua visit Netero, who is also at the arena. However, the cloaked men seize control of the facility. One of them, Gaki, replaces Zushi’s opponent and defeats him, while another, Shura, takes over the security system. A third, Rengoku, curses Netero, sealing his Nen and immobilizing him. The group’s leader then appears, knocking Gon and Killua off the tower, but they manage to survive and return to the building.
Netero identifies the leader as Jed, his former friend and the leader of “Shadow,” the Hunter Association’s covert operations squad. Jed reveals that “Shadow” was destroyed by Netero after they began using “On,” a cursed power fueled by hatred, opposite to Nen. Jed’s goal is to force the Hunter Association to release the “Black Report,” which documents the crimes committed against the descendants of “Shadow” after the group’s peaceful dissolution.
The film delves into themes of vengeance, betrayal, and the consequences of wielding forbidden power, as Gon, Killua, and Netero face off against Jed and his allies.
