**Storyline:**
The U.S. Los Angeles-class submarine USS *Tampa Bay* disappears while tracking the Russian Akula-class submarine *Konek* in the Arctic. Rear Admiral John Fisk tasks the USS *Arkansas*, led by the unconventional Commander Joe Glass, to investigate the incident.
Simultaneously, a Navy SEAL team, commanded by Lieutenant Bill Beaman, is deployed to discreetly observe a Russian naval base in Polyarny, Murmansk Oblast. Their mission becomes complicated when one of their team members, Martinelli, is injured during a HALO drop. Upon arrival, they witness Russian Defense Minister Admiral Dmitriy Durov staging a coup, capturing President Nikolai Zakarin and planning to incite a war. The SEALs narrowly avoid detection and are forced to leave Martinelli behind after he is injured again during a confrontation.
Meanwhile, the USS *Arkansas* discovers the wreckage of the *Tampa Bay* and the damaged *Konek*, suggesting internal sabotage. They face an attack from another Russian submarine, *Volkov*, but Glass successfully destroys it and rescues survivors, including Captain Sergei Andropov from the *Konek*.
Back at the U.S. base, officials learn of the coup. While Admiral Charles Donnegan advocates for war, Fisk proposes a mission for the USS *Arkansas* to rendezvous with the SEAL team and rescue President Zakarin.
