Description: Joseph Smith, a former Special Forces soldier turned homeless drunk in London, is attacked by a group of thugs one night. Seeking refuge, he breaks into an apartment and discovers that the owner, a photographer named Damon, is away until October. Joseph decides to stay, adopting the identity of Joey Jones and using Damon’s resources. He begins searching for his homeless friend Isabel, who has been forced into prostitution by the same gang that attacked him.
With the help of Sister Cristina, a Polish nun running a local soup kitchen, Joseph gathers information about Isabel’s whereabouts. To avoid suspicion from Damon’s neighbors, Joseph claims to be Damon’s boyfriend and takes up a job at a Chinese restaurant. One evening, he defends the restaurant from unruly customers, catching the attention of Mr. Choy, the senior manager and a member of a Chinese crime syndicate. Choy hires Joseph as a driver and enforcer, providing him with money that Joseph uses to support the homeless and buy gifts for Cristina.
Joseph reconnects with Dawn, his ex-lover and mother of his young daughter, and offers her financial assistance. Meanwhile, Cristina informs Joseph of Isabel’s murder. Consumed by rage, Joseph confronts the thugs who attacked him and learns details about the killer. To relay this information to Cristina, he invites her to an art gallery, where she confides in him about her dark past—revealing she was sexually abused as a child and later killed her abuser, leading to her life in the convent. Feeling conflicted about her growing feelings for Joseph, Cristina decides to transfer to Africa.
Mr. Choy’s boss, Madame Choy, agrees to help Joseph track down Isabel’s killer in exchange for Joseph’s assistance in smuggling people into the UK. This sets the stage for Joseph’s relentless pursuit of justice while navigating the dangerous underworld of London.
