Description: Karan Kapoor (played by Saif Ali Khan) is a cartoonist who fancies himself a ladies’ man. His daily comic strip, titled “Hum Tum,” humorously explores the dynamics between men and women. On a flight from Delhi to New York, he encounters Rhea Prakash (Rani Mukherjee), who shows little interest in him. Despite his attempts to flirt, she remains unimpressed. During a layover in Amsterdam, she agrees to explore the city with him, but their personalities clash. Karan, undeterred, ends their time together with an unwelcome kiss, leading to a slap from Rhea and a heated departure. However, Karan confidently claims they will meet again.
Six months later, he spots Rhea in a New York park. In an attempt to get her attention, he creates a scene with his girlfriend Shalini (Shenaz Treasurywala), who happens to be Rhea’s childhood friend. This results in a breakup between Karan and Shalini.
Three years later, Karan assists his mother in planning a wedding, only to discover it is Rhea’s. She is set to marry Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan). Despite their usual banter, this time they part on amicable terms.
Years later, in Paris, Karan visits his father Arjun (Rishi Kapoor) and unexpectedly reunites with Rhea. He learns from Rhea’s mother Parminder “Bobby” Prakash (Kirron Kher) that Sameer has tragically died in a car accident. Determined to help Rhea regain her optimism, Karan returns to Mumbai.
Three months later, Rhea and Bobby visit Mumbai. Believing Rhea needs a stable, “boring guy” in her life, Karan conspires with Bobby to set her up with his shy best friend, Mihir Vora (Jimmy Sheirgill). However, Mihir falls for Karan’s friend Diana Fernandez (Isha Koppikar), and they get engaged. On the night of the engagement, a drunken Diana reveals the conspiracy to Rhea, leaving her upset with Karan. Ultimately, Mihir helps Rhea realize her true feelings for Karan, bringing the story full circle.
