Description: Andie Anderson, a writer for the women’s magazine *Composure*, specializes in “How to” articles but feels unfulfilled and eager to tackle more serious topics. After her friend Michelle goes through another breakup, lamenting her lack of attractiveness, Andie argues that Michelle’s overly emotional and clingy behavior with men is the real issue. To prove her point, Andie decides to write an article titled “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” where she plans to date a man and drive him away by mimicking Michelle’s actions.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Barry, an advertising executive, aims to move beyond his usual beer and sports campaigns and lead a prestigious diamond ad campaign. At a bar, his boss, Phillip, doubts Ben’s understanding of romance, a key element in selling diamonds. Confident, Ben bets he can make any woman fall in love with him within 10 days. If he succeeds, Phillip will let him head the diamond campaign. Ben’s rivals, Judy Spears and Judy Green, who visited the *Composure* offices earlier, know about Andie’s plan and choose her as the woman Ben will romance.
Ben and Andie meet, each unaware of the other’s true intentions. Andie works diligently to push Ben away, while he persists in trying to win her affection. Their conflicting goals lead to humorous and chaotic situations, as Andie’s exaggerated antics clash with Ben’s determination to make her fall in love.
