Description: Will and Samantha, known as Sam, are a young couple eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child. Will travels from Seattle to Chicago to meet Sam’s parents, intending to ask her father, Tom, for his blessing to marry Sam. However, during dinner, tensions rise between Will and Tom, leading to an argument. Will leaves without disclosing Sam’s pregnancy or his plans for marriage.
The following day, Sam contacts Will before his scheduled return flight. During the call, she hears an unsettling noise and panics, saying, “Something’s wrong,” before the call abruptly ends. At the airport, Will discovers that all flights have been canceled due to reports of a seismic event off the U.S. West Coast, which has disrupted power and communication systems. Concerned for Sam’s safety, Will returns to her parents’ house, where he and Tom decide to drive to Seattle together to find her.
As they hit the road, they encounter heavy traffic and find the interstate blocked by soldiers. Tom, a former Marine officer, uses his military background to convince the soldiers to let them pass. Later that night, they are stopped by what appears to be a police car, but it turns out to be an armed individual. A confrontation ensues, leading to a firefight and an accident that leaves Tom with fractured ribs. Tom manages to subdue the attacker, and they use the police cruiser to tow their damaged car to a nearby reservation.
At the reservation, a mechanic named Ricki repairs their car and agrees to join them on their journey in case of further breakdowns. The trio continues their trip, gathering supplies along the way. However, they are later held at gunpoint by robbers who steal their gasoline. Left without fuel, Will takes action, pursuing the robbers and catching up to their vehicle. Ricki shoots out their tires, causing the car to flip over. Amidst the chaos and a potential explosion from the leaking fuel, they barely manage to retrieve their stolen gasoline. That night, shaken by the events, Ricki decides to part ways with them.
