Description: In a dystopian future, Daisy, a troubled American teen, is sent to the English countryside to spend the summer with her Aunt Penn and her three cousins: Eddie, Isaac, and Piper. Upon arriving at Heathrow Airport amid heightened security due to a bombing in Paris, Daisy is welcomed by Isaac, who takes her to their family farm. Initially distant, Daisy gradually warms up to her cousins and their neighbor, Joe. She learns from her aunt that her late mother had also often stayed at the farm. Over time, Daisy develops feelings for her eldest cousin, Eddie.
A few days later, Aunt Penn travels to Geneva for an emergency conference as an expert on extremist terrorist groups. The children’s peaceful summer is shattered when a terrorist coalition detonates a nuclear bomb in London, killing thousands. The power grid collapses, and martial law is declared. Daisy is offered the chance to return to the safety of America but chooses to stay out of love for Eddie. Their lives are further disrupted when the British Army raids their home, forcibly separating the boys and girls for evacuation to different regions. Eddie attempts to resist but is restrained, leaving Daisy with a promise to return home when she can.
Daisy and Piper are placed with a British Army major and his wife. Their new home is attacked by terrorists, resulting in Joe’s death. Daisy and Piper escape into the countryside and embark on a six-day journey back to the farm. Along the way, Daisy witnesses the mistreatment of captives at a camp and later discovers a massacre near where Eddie and Isaac were taken. Heartbroken, she finds Isaac’s body and takes his glasses, burying them later. As they continue their journey, Daisy and Piper are pursued by armed men, leading to a confrontation in the woods where Daisy shoots the attackers, allowing them to flee to safety.
